Effective July 22, 2026 · Applies to the Nuzio iOS app and nuzio.co
The short version: Nuzio is built so the personal parts stay on your phone. What you read, skip, finish and listen to trains a taste model that never leaves your device. An account is optional and only syncs your saves and preferences. We don't sell data, and we don't build advertising profiles from your reading.
1. What stays on your device
The following is stored and processed only on your iPhone, and is never uploaded for ranking or profiling:
- ·Your reading and listening history, including completion signals
- ·The affinity ("taste") model that ranks your For You feed
- ·Topic picks from onboarding and per-topic affinities
- ·Downloaded stories and cached audio for offline use
Deleting the app deletes this local data.
2. What we collect if you create an account
Nuzio works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in — with Apple, Google or email — we store the minimum needed to sync across devices:
- ·An account identifier and, for email sign-in, your email address
- ·Saved articles (bookmarks) and app preferences
- ·Session tokens used to keep you signed in securely
Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email address; we support that fully. Your account never carries your reading history or taste model.
3. Read-aloud audio
When you use read-aloud, the text of the story you requested is sent to our audio service at nuzio.co, which forwards it to ElevenLabs to synthesize speech and caches the resulting audio so repeat listens are instant. These requests are used to produce and deliver audio — not to profile your reading. API keys stay on our servers and in the device Keychain; they are never shipped inside the app.
4. Feeds, custom sources and the resolver
News feeds are fetched directly from publishers by the app on your device. If you add a website that has no feed, its address is sent to our feed resolver, which turns the site into a readable feed. The resolver processes the site's address and public content — nothing about your reading habits.
5. Notifications
If you enable digests, we store a push token so Apple can deliver your morning and evening briefings. Quiet hours are respected. Turning notifications off in iOS Settings stops delivery and we discard the token.
6. Diagnostics
We collect basic, aggregate diagnostics — crash reports and service-health signals such as whether audio synthesis succeeded — to keep the app reliable. These are not linked to a profile of what you read. TestFlight builds additionally share standard beta feedback and crash data with us through Apple.
7. Audio spots
While a story's narration is being prepared, Nuzio may play a short audio spot. Spots are selected generally — they are not targeted using your reading history, location or identity.
8. Third parties
- ·Publishers — articles and images load from the publications you read; their own policies apply on their sites.
- ·ElevenLabs — synthesizes read-aloud audio from article text we forward.
- ·Apple & Google — optional sign-in, push delivery and TestFlight distribution.
We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not share it with data brokers.
9. Retention and deletion
Local data lives and dies with the app on your device. Account data is kept while your account is active; delete your account in Settings → Account (or by contacting us) and your saves, preferences and identifiers are removed from our servers. Cached audio is retained briefly to make repeat listens fast and cheap, then expires.
10. Children
Nuzio is a general-audience news app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes here and update the effective date above. For meaningful changes we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
